Ricarda Merbeth named honorary member of the Richard Wagner Association Magdeburg
On 11 October, Ricarda Merbeth was named an honorary member of the Richard Wagner Association Magdeburg at a ceremony at the Magdeburg Opera House. The occasion brought the soprano back to a city that played a formative role in her career.
After completing her studies in Leipzig in 1989, Merbeth joined the ensemble of the Theater Magdeburg, where she remained until 1997. She has often spoken with gratitude of the opportunities she was given there to develop as a singer and an artist.
The honorary membership recognises both her long-standing connection with Magdeburg and her outstanding contribution to the world of music through her distinctive Wagner interpretations on opera stages around the world.
