Elektra at Deutsche Oper Berlin

Ricarda Merbeth sings the title role in Richard Strauss’s Elektra at Deutsche Oper Berlin on 6, 14 and 17 November 2026. The production is directed by Kirsten Harms and conducted by Juraj Valčuha.

The principal cast also features Okka von der Damerau as Klytämnestra, Ann-Kathrin Niemczyk as Chrysothemis, Michael J. Scott as Aegisth and Tobias Kehrer as Orest.

Since her role debut in Patrice Chéreau’s production at Teatro alla Scala in 2018, Elektra has become one of Merbeth’s most important roles. She has also sung it at theatres such as Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Vienna State Opera and Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, and will bring it to the Maggio Musicale Fiorentino next year.

Her many roles at Deutsche Oper Berlin have included Elsa in Lohengrin, the title role in Die ägyptische Helena, Turandot and Senta. Most recently, she appeared there as Isolde and as Brünnhilde in complete Ring cycles.
